Sign the Petition - AR Senate: STOP this Deadly Game of Chicken!

Dear Friend,

Today in the Senate, opponents of Arkansas' Medicaid expansion blocked funding for the expanded coverage and a long list of other programs for the poor and disabled. But the fight is not over, and we need YOUR help!

Tell Arkansas' Senators it's time to fund Arkansas Works and pass a budget. (

Gov. Hutchinson’s plan to continue healthcare access for more than 250,000 Arkansas families, passed by a large majority last week. Now the state budget, including the program, needs a three-fourths majority to avoid gridlock.

Outside groups want our legislature to block the whole budget in hopes that Arkansas Works will be repealed just a week after it passed. The practical fact is it won't be repealed, but this game of chicken will hurt hundreds of thousands of Arkansans.

Not only is lifesaving healthcare at stake, but Arkansas will also lose millions in Federal aid by ending the program. This will force Arkansas to either raise taxes, or cut other life-saving programs, including:

  • $11 million in cuts to help for abused, neglected and foster children

  • Multi-million dollar cuts to nursing and assisted living services that help the elderly and disabled

  • A $5 million cut to Arkansas’ award winning pre-K program

Add your name to the call ( for AR Senators to pass the budget recommended by the Governor and the Joint Budget Committee of the Legislature.
